Haiti Recovery and Florida’s Institutions of Higher Education We care.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones in Haiti. The efforts continue to assist the people of Haiti and the immediate need is for donations. Donations will provide food, water and other resources that are sorely needed.
Among the groups that are collecting donations for the Haiti relief efforts are the American Red Cross and Volunteer Florida Foundation. Students and faculty are also raising funds on campuses throughout the state.
The immediate priorities are food, water, shelter, and medical help. International crews and government agencies have been deployed immediately to help with injuries, identification, shelters, water and other catastrophic needs. The best way to help now is for donations to be made to Haitian relief efforts.
The State University System is working on a partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families to assist in their efforts. Soon we will be listing other organizations and institutions that are part of the SUS, as well as reporting on the inventory of available resources and services. Please check back frequently to learn more about the SUS/DCF partnership, what is being done and how you can help.
