Information Resource Management
Information Resource Management - State University System of Florida (IRM-SUS) is the primary collector and provider of data concerning state universities that is used to make sound education policy decisions. The office provides technical assistance to those using the information, state and federal reporting support, those supplying information, and enhancement support for the databases.
Purpose
- To collect and provide data about Florida's eleven public universities to enable executive management and policy makers to make educated decisions about public higher education in Florida.
- To provide leadership and coordination in the areas of information technology and data management.
Key Functions
- Act as chief steward of the state university system data repository.
- Collect, edit, analyze and maintain data regarding university operations for reporting purposes.
- Coordinate the distribution and submission of data requests from policy makers.
- Act as the primary liaison with the university regarding requests for data and information.
- Coordinate the efforts of the institutional data administrators as they work to provide information to IRM.
- Provide technical assistance to the universities regarding data collection and submission.
- Create and maintain data collection information systems for use in collecting and maintaining university data and reports.
- Provides information management information services coordination and leadership to the universities in numerous ways, such as:
- By coordinating regular communications and meetings among the 11 university CIOs and the 11 university institutional data administrators.
- By sharing best practices in regards to technology and data management with the state universities.
- By leveraging the "power" of the university system to negotiate system wide technology purchases at discounts significantly greater than any one institution could obtain on their own.
