Background
The decision to establish a Task Force on FAMU Finance and Operational Control Issues was made after consultation with Interim President Castell Bryant, with Board of Trustees Chair Challis Lowe and with incoming President James Ammons. All agree that the serious nature of the issues raised by a recent audit of Florida A&M University warrants a State University System team approach. All support the creation of the FAMU Task Force.
The Task Force will bring together collective expertise from throughout the State University System to help FAMU administrators and the FAMU Board of Trustees take action to quickly resolve serious issues of financial and operational controls. The Task Force will develop a roadmap for institutional integrity and accountability.
Focusing on actions to address and correct financial and other operating deficiencies identified in the audit, the Task Force on FAMU Finance and Operational Control Issues will work closely with the Office of the Auditor General, the FAMU Board of Trustees Audit Committee, the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee and the faculty and administrators of the institution.
