Board of Trustees Vacancies
The Trustee Nominating and Development Committee of the Board of Governors is seeking candidates for appointment to the board of trustees of universities.
- Florida Polytechnic University (5 vacancies)
- Two vacancies for two-year terms
- Two vacancies for three-year terms
- One vacancy for a five-year term
- The deadline for submission of applications for this vacancy is no later than 5:00 p.m. EST May 31, 2012.
- Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
Each state university has a 13-member Board of Trustees responsible for cost-effective policy, implementing and maintaining high-quality education programs consistent with the university's mission, performance evaluation and developing a process meeting state policy, budgeting and education standards.
Section 7 of Article IX of the Florida Constitution provides for Trustees to serve staggered terms of five years. To achieve staggering for a new Board of Trustees, initial appointments for some members will be for a term of less than five years. As such, section 1001.71, Florida Statutes, provides that initial appointments by the Board of Governors shall be as follows:
