Expenditure Analysis in State University System Institutions

Direct Expenditures - Direct expenditures includes total instruction, research and public service. It also includes the following stand-alone activities: institutes and research centers, museums and galleries, radio/TV, extension, and teaching hospitals and clinics.
Indirect Expenditures - Other expenditures not related to the direct expenditures are distributed to the direct cost activities. Indirect expenditures includes academic administration, libraries/audio/visual, student services, university support, and plant operation and maintenance.
Total Expenditures - The sum of direct and indirect expenditures for each program component and activity that is a direct cost center is included.
